We have been a long time user of Citrix to deliver applications both locally and remotely to users. We currently run Presentation Server 4.0 and plan to upgrade to 4.5 this year. I could write literally volumes on Citrix and MS Terminal Server. In previous careers I have implemented Citrix in hundreds of networks since 1993 when Citrix ran on OS/2. Needless to say I am a big fan of the technology and my opinions may be biased towards it.

We’re using MS Terminal Services, which was implemented before I joined the Bank last Spring. I would term our implementation more as ‘desktop virtualization’, since the majority of our employees run everything from a Terminal Server session, including Outlook, IE, and the iSeries client for our core processor. There are challenges, but the benefits far outweigh them.

We have run MS Terminal Services in the past for select job titles, but have moved away from it for support reasons. We also use VMWare both internally and in the DMZ for about 40 of our servers.(3 servers running 40 VM’s).
