Mobile Banking As "Table Stakes"...Today? Tomorrow? Next Year? Any opinons on how close your market is to "demand?"
Marc asked 7 months ago
I’d be curious to know your opinion on how close we are to an environment where Mobile Banking and the costs inherent in a solution are just the “price of doing business.” Has anyone rolled out a solution? Did you do it to attract new customers? Strengthen existing ties? Because the guy down the street did it?

I have my opinions Marc, but I’m going to recommend this to some of my friends and I’m interested in their responses from a banker standpoint.

Our mobile banking alert component will be three years old in April. It is a great feature to offer members and they do use it and like it. We are headed for a 3rd version this year to include alerts that members have specifically asked for. It strengthens existing ties. No one else here is offerring this and we didn’t get a truckload of members but we hadn’t planned this product for that purpose. In March we will have another mobile banking component SMS messaging for balances and history. It should complement what we have. It is another channel, and when it becomes more common to use cell phones or iPhones or whatever for this then it will become like telephone banking and Internet banking. They all have a different look and feel and only extend the credit union to have a virtual teller.
