WHAT IS BANKTASTIC, AND WHO IS IT FOR?

What is Banktastic?
Banktastic is a social networking site for people in the financial industry. It’s a great way to get in contact with other people working in FIs.
What is its purpose?
Banktastic serves as a social “knowledge hub” so that people can get together and share information or ask questions and get real answers. We created Banktastic to be the tool that helps better connect people within this industry.
Who all can join?
Anybody interested in the financial industry. This includes people working within banks or credit unions, vendors, related associations, customers of FIs, and much more. We have members from tellers to CEOs, even marketing people, so anybody is welcome to join!
Does it cost anything to join?
No, using Banktastic as a user is absolutely free!

GETTING STARTED!

How do I get started?
Once you join Banktastic, we’d encourage you to setup your profile with the appropriate information. Here you can share information like your business and job title, upload a user picture, give a little paragraph describing yourself, and input your tags.
I’m setting up my profile, and it’s asking me to give it tags. What are tags?
Tags are simply words that you identify with yourself. For instance, if you work as a teller, here would be some useful tags: bank, teller, customer service, transactions, accounts.
Do I need to fill in these tags?
Filling out these tags is very important because what you tell us from your tags determines what content Banktastic will generate for you. If one of your tags is “customer service,” then every time an article or question comes through regarding customer service, Banktastic posts it in the area called “Conversations that might interest you.” If at any time you wish to stop receiving information about a certain tag, simply remove it from your profile.

GETTING INVOLVED!

How do I share an article on Banktastic?
Click the “Share an Article” button under the News Articles tab. You can quickly share some news by adding the name of the article in the “Title” line, post its web address in the “URL” line, and write a quick summary or give your two-cents about it in the “Description” area. Then just choose which category of news it belongs to, type up some words that are related to the article in the “Tags” section, and click “Share It” to post it on the Banktastic Community.
How do I ask a question on Banktastic?
Click the “Ask a Question” button under the Answers tab. You can easily get started by asking your question in the “Question” line, then using the “Background Information or References” area to provide more information and links so that you can get better answers. Be sure to add the appropriate tags in the “Tags” line, then click “Ask the Banktastic Community” to start getting answers.
What is “Recommend to a Friend” when I’m posting an article?
When posting an article or asking a question, you have the option of suggesting what you’re posting to your friends. Just click the box beside a person’s name that you’d like to see what you’re sharing. An email with a link will then be sent to them to let them know that you recommended this article.
Why do I only have 15 minutes to edit my article?
We made a decision to only allow 15 minutes for editing because we wanted to preserve the conversation. We felt 15 minutes is enough to go back and proofread for typos and incorrect information. We’d rather the conversation stay true to its original form so that members reading comments have no confusion on any statement made.
How do I review a company?
Click the “Review a Company” button under the Reviews tab. The companies will then show up in alphabetical order, or you can search for a specific company in the search bar. Once you find the company you’d like to review, click their name to go to their company profile page. Once there, click “Got a Review?” to tell Banktastic what you think about them, then give them a rating by using our star system. Click “Save Changes” to post your review to that company’s profile page.
How do I review a product?
Click the “Review a Product” button under the Reviews tab. The products will show up in alphabetical order. Click the product that you’d like to review, or search for it in the search bar. Once you find the product you’d like to review, click “Got a Review?” to write your thoughts on the product, then give it a rating using our star system. Click “Save Changes” to finish up.
How do I add a company?
Click the “Review a Company” button under the Reviews tab, then click “Add a Company.” All you have to do is type the name of the company, and then click “Create” to add the company to the Banktastic database.
How do I add a product?
Click the “Review a Product” button under the Reviews tab, then click “Add a Product.”All you have to do is type the name of the product and the company it belongs to, then click “Create” to add the company to the Banktastic database.
How do I claim a company?
On a particular company’s profile page, you can claim a company by click the “Claim it!” link at the bottom. There you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to claim a company.

How do I search for my friends?
Simply type your friend’s name in the search bar and you should be well on your way to finding them.
How do I add friends?
When on a user’s profile page, click the “Add as a Friend” button to the right of their profile picture.
What does the “Bank This” button mean beside articles & questions?
By clicking this button, you can “bank” an article or question which saves it to your profile for quick reference. Also, everytime you bank an article or question, you raise its popularity in the Banktastic system.
How do I rate a comment?
You can rate a comment using the thumbs up & thumbs down icons.
Why should I rate a comment?
The importance of rating comments is to help members looking at the article know what comment was voted highest by the community itself. The more you rate, the smarter Banktastic gets.
How do I flag a comment as inappropriate?
If you find a comment or conversation inappropriate on Banktastic, just click the flag button beside the thumbs up & thumbs down and one of The Banktastics will remove any inappropriate material.
How do I share an article with a friend?
Simply click on the link at the bottom of an article after all the comments that says “Recommend to a friend” and then choose which of your friends you’d like to share this article with. They will be notified by email of your recommendation.
What is RSS?
RSS is a continually updated list of content from different blogs, podcasts, etc. To learn more about RSS feeds and why you should subscribe to them, click here. For Banktastic, subscribing to articles and questions on our site will help you keep up with updated information without having to visit our site several times daily.
What are the Banktastic feeds?
Our feeds are full of content generated by the best blogs on the net. They’re categorized and are available for subscription individually, or you can subscribe to our Master Feed to get all of the good stuff.
I think I have a pretty awesome blog. Can I get it on one of the Banktastic feeds?
If you have a blog that you want featured on our feeds, just send an email to support@banktastic.com with the name of your blog, a link to it and a short description on what your blog is all about. Our only stipulation is that you update your blog with ground-breaking posts anywhere from 3-5 times per week.
